Plumbers Local 130 UA, JAC - April 2018 School Closings
Please note the following important schedule changes: Chicago Apprentices: As a result of the new apprentice class orientation week, all Chicago apprentices will report to work the entire week of April 23, 2018. Regular classes will resume the week of April 30 at the Chicago Training Center. Joliet and Volo Apprentices: The Joliet and Volo Training Centers will be closed on Tuesday, April 24. Joliet and Volo Tuesday apprentices will report to work on Tuesday, April 24 and will return to school on Tuesday, May 1.
Chicago Plumbing Material Pilot Program extended through December 31, 2018
The Department of Buildings is pleased to announce that the 6-month plumbing materials pilot program, which was announced in October 2017, is now extended through December 31, 2018, so that the Department may gather additional data. During the initial period, the Department received and processed almost 200 requests. Safety Stand Down Week
The Chicagoland Associated General Contractors encourages contractors to participate in this year's Safety Stand Down during the week of May 7-11.
WSA Members rub elbows with Rahm
WSA members Carlo Fabiano of R. Carrozza Plumbing and Joe Leone of Combined Plumbing & Sewer LLC snapped a shot with Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel at the Plumbers' Local 130 UA Corned Beef Dinner to raise funds for the St. Patrick's Day parade. Several WSA member companies participated at the dinner, which drew a record crowd of almost 1,200. Among the WSA contractors at the event were: Chas. F. Bruckner & Son; Fettes, Love & Sieben; Great Lakes Plumbing & Heating Co.; The Hill Group; Johns Plumbing, Inc.; Kuhn Plumbing; Norman Mechanical, Inc.; Quality Backflow Testing, and Warren F. Thomas Plumbing Co.
Plumbers' Local 130 seeks applicants for 2018 Plumbing Apprenticeship Program
The Plumbers Local 130 Joint Apprenticeship Committee will accept applications for admission to the 2018 Plumbing Apprenticeship Program from Jan. 23-Feb. 22. Candidates must apply in person on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1-4 p.m. or on Thursdays from 6-8 p.m. at the Chicago Office, 1340 W. Washington Blvd., or the Joliet Office, 2114 S. I-80 Frontage Road in Joliet. Applications will also be accepted at the Volo office, 31855 N. U.S. Hwy 12 in Volo on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 1-4 p.m. and Thursdays from 6-8 p.m. on Jan. 23 and 25, and Feb. 6, 8, 20, and 22. A $25 registration fee payable to Plumbers' JAC Local 130 by money order or cashier's check is required. A Test Taking Tip book may also be purchased for an additional $10.
OSHA updates online whistleblower form
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration's online whistleblower complaint form has been revised and is now available on the agency's website. The updated form guides users through the process of filing a complaint with the appropriate agency and is available in English and Spanish.
